How to Become a Certified Nursing Assistant in New York

Have you decided that you want to train as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in New York? If you have, you have made a fabulous choice. Not only are Certified Nursing Assistants in high demand all over the country today, but those who choose to work in New York enjoy some of highest CNA wages in the U.S. as well, with average starting salaries being about $33,000 per year.

Currently, the training program requirement for aspiring CNAs is the completion of at least 100 hours of classroom lectures and clinical exercises. Common topics include daily living assistance, taking vital signs, computer skills, and communications. After completing the required amount of training, CNA candidates must pass the New York Nurse Aide Competency Test, which has two sections: a clinical evaluation and a written exam.
